Nicole Richie has joked fiance Joel Madden has no say in their forthcoming nuptials.

The reality TV star and the Good Charlotte rocker – who have two children, Harlow, two, and five-month-old Sparrow – announced their engagement last month but admit Nicole is the one in charge of the plans.

Talking about the wedding, Joel said: “It’s the same thing as our engagement, we’re kind of doing it at our own pace. We have no idea right now.”

Nicole then quipped: “Like he has any say.”

The couple are also disagreeing what kind of wedding they want.

Joel added: “According to her we’ll have a really big wedding. According to me, it will be really small.”

Nicole and Joel attended last night’s Oscars together and joked they were set to tie the knot imminently.

When asked about the date of their big day, Nicole deadpanned: “It’s tomorrow.”

Joel – who performed a DJ set at the ceremony – quipped: “I thought it would be cool to do it here.”

Although their engagement was announced last month, the couple had secretly been engaged for some time.

Joel tweeted recently: “Yep. I’m engaged. Very happy.

“Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same.”

The couple denied that they had plans to marry as late as last year, and were in no plans to rush into tying the knot.

Nicole said: “One day I would love to get married. It’s not something we’re talking about right now. If my kids ask me to get married, I’d get married.”

When Joel Madden announced that Nicole Richie was pregnant, he didn’t say how far along she was. Looking at these pictures she is further along than we thought. But then again she might have had a big meal before she showed up for this event.

Here they go again! Nicole Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden are expecting another child, barely a year after the arrival of daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden last Jan. 11.

In a message on the Web site of Good Charlotte, the band he fronts, Madden, 29, wrote, “I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister! God has truly blessed my family. Hope [you’re] all feeling as good as i am right now.” Madden’s message is titled “Better than winning an OSCAR!”

After a famously wild childhood, Richie, 27, credited the birth of daughter Harlow for leading her to a more tranquil life at home with Madden. “She gives life a whole new meaning,” Richie told PEOPLE in a coverstory featuring stunning photos of the blissful family.

Reps for Madden and Richie did not immediately return calls for comment.

Sources tell Page Six that since Madden split from Hilton, Richie’s best pal, Nicole “has been really possessive and stops him from talking to other girls.” Richie, who has a baby with Benji’s twin, Joel Madden, was spotted at a party for the Maddens’ band, Good Charlotte, and their latest album, “Greatest Remixes.” Our spy said, “Benji was approached by dozens of ladies. Girls were trying to flirt with him . . . but Nicole kept getting in the way.” The source noted that Richie “stopped every girl trying to take a photo of him,” and even “dragged him by the arm” away from a busty blonde.

Nicole Riche and Joel Madden have finally set a date and according to OK! it is on their daughter Harlow’s first birthday on January 11th.

A friend of the pair said: “They want to set an example for Harlow. Nicole and Joel are doing this to seal their love legally.”They want the ceremony to coincide with Harlow’s first birthday and be one big joyous occasion for everybody.”

If it is true, that is a sweet date to get married.
