Cover star, Mandy Moore, has been very quiet about her impromptu marriage to Ryan, but she opens up to WH on the subject in the July/August issue (on newsstand this week), and dishes about her recent album, misperception in the media, and her unexpected “good girl gone bad” behavior.
Misperceptions of Mandy:
“I understand people have preconceived notions of who I am or what I do. But I do find it bizarre that people find it bizarre that I’ve grown up.”
The “Big” Wedding:
“It was never important for a wedding to be about anything other than me and my partner. A big celebration was never my cup of tea.”
On marriage:
“I didn’t know if marriage was something that was super important to me. I thought, maybe I don’t need that in my life.”
“I didn’t take the decision (to get married) lightly. I ventured into it realistically. But life takes you places you wouldn’t have expected. I’m really content with what was in the cards for me.”
Her married life:
“We’re quiet people who live a normal, boring life.”
On Therapy (which she first tried over a year ago):
“You go in thinking, ‘Wow, I have nothing to talk about. Where is this hour gonna go? And before you know it, time’s up. I don’t have to burden my friends with the same things over and over again, and it’s fascinating to get an unbiased point of view, to not feel like anybody would judge you. It’s very freeing.”

Mandy’s unexpected tattoo on the arch of her foot:
“It’s a baby sperm.”
Tattoo parlor visit with her band members:
“We were goofing off, writing a song about babies or something,” she says. “Somehow that evolved into everybody getting inked.
Unexpected Paparazzi run-in:
“It was like 9 in morning, I’m having my period, I have a huge pimple on my face, and all of a sudden some guy pops out from behind a porta-potty.”
*Occurred the morning of the interview while her and her hubby were hiking
Head-over-heels for Ryan:
Mandy calls Ryan, “my best friend, someone I have so much respect for.”
Making of Amanda Leigh:
“I’d never sung sitting down before but there was something so intimate about the way we were doing the record. It was just the three of us, and we made the most of what we had. Typically, in a studio, every day you’re conscious of how much money it’s costing but there was no pressure. It was like, let’s go for this song today, and we’d come back to it later.”

Shortly after the plane crash that injured Travis Barker and killed four others, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, who also suffered injuries, was seen with former flame Mandy Moore.
The two, according to both Us Weekly and In Touch, are more than just friends, though. Sources tell both magazines that the accident has brought the couple back together.
“It’s back on,” a DJ AM source told Us Weekly. “Since the accident, it’s blossomed into something again. … Mandy said, ‘I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.’”
In Touch describes the pair as “inseparable” since the September crash, and cite a recent appearance together at the Friendly House Awards Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton in L.A. on Oct. 18 as evidence the two have rekindled their romance.
“They were enjoying each other’s company and sitting very close,” an onlooker at the event told In Touch.

Southland Tales star Mandy Moore got a little bit bored while out comic book shopping with rumored boyfriend musician Ryan Adams. Sensing her boredom, Adams attempted to spice things up by making an inappropriate touch within Moore’s bathing suit area. Moore took offense to the squeeze, but in an attempt to defend his actions, Adams said he thought it would be funny. Moore was quick to point out that they were in public and in a comic book store of all places; if he wanted to do something “fun,” she thought it would be a better idea to go hiking than to just watch him look through old Alan Moore comic books. Adams corrected Moore and said “They’re not comics, they’re graphic novels” as she stomped off.

Mandy Moore has recorded five albums, starred in films and television since she was 15 and launched her own fashion label, but recently she faced a fear shared by many other women — going on vacation on her own.
“I was always kind of terrified of going on vacation alone. That thought really scared me, but I wanted to push that bruise and do it anyway,†said Moore, 23, as she launched a Web site, www.uPumpItUp.com, designed to help women balance their lives.
“I ended up having the most incredible time. It was so peaceful, not having to answer to anyone or take anybody else’s opinions into account,†she told Reuters. “It is empowering and it’s such a simple thing to do.â€
Moore said www.uPumpItUp.com, which she chairs, is aimed at helping women balance their “wellness†by sharing such stories to challenge and inspire each other to better their lives.
Moore said she hoped women would realize they are “worthy of taking time†for themselves. “We all struggle with finding time for ourselves between family and friends and work and all those other obligations and we neglect ourselves,†she said.
“Having that sense of balance in life between personal and all that other stuff is kind of essential to leading a happy life,†said Moore.
She said one tip she had taken from one of the “wellness†experts on the Web site was to compliment at least one person a day. She also plans to take cooking classes and blog about her experiences online.
Despite growing up in the spotlight, Moore, who has starred in movies such as “License to Wed,†“American Dreamz†and “A Walk to Remember,†credits her family and friends with keeping her grounded, even though “it sounds cheesy.â€
And while her romantic life has found its way weekly celebrity magazines — she has been linked to tennis player Andy Roddick and actors Zach Braff and Wilmer Valderrama — Moore has kept a reputation as one of Hollywood’s good girls.
“I think when it really comes down to it, it’s a conscious choice to put yourself out there,†said Moore, who heads to Australia later this month to tour with U.S. pop star Kelly Clarkson and also perform with Australian singer Ben Lee.
“Being in this industry with so much content out there, so much of your life is not your own,†she said. “So when you’re not working the last thing I want to do is put myself in any situation for people to know more about it. I’m not interested in living that life.â€
