He did it recently when a cell phone call interrupted a preview performance of “A Steady Rain,” the Broadway play that stars Jackman and Daniel Craig.

The moment captured on an amateur video shown by the TMZ.com Web site appears to have been recorded by someone in the audience.

It shows Jackman breaking character to tell the owner of the ringing cell phone, “You want to get that?” as the audience erupts in cheers. As the ringing persists, Jackman pleads: “Come on, just turn it off.” He then paces the stage of the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, waits about a minute for the ringing to stop and the play resumes.

Producers of “A Steady Rain” declined to comment.

The interruption occurred during an intense moment in the play, when Jackman’s character, a Chicago policeman, reveals haunting memories.

A customary loudspeaker announcement reminds theatergoers to turn off their phones. Since the incident, ushers who seat patrons and pass out playbills at Schoenfeld are also instructing patrons to silence their phones.

“A Steady Rain,” a taut drama about the relationship between two policemen, opens Tuesday for a limited engagement through Dec. 6. The play by Keith Huff already has proven to be a potent box-office winner, playing to capacity audiences since it began previews on Sept. 10.

Jackman won a Tony Award in 2004 for his performance as Peter Allen in the musical “The Boy from Oz.” Craig, filmdom’s latest James Bond, is making his Broadway debut.

The play is set to open this fall and I am sure it will do amazing! C’mon these two on one stage, live and in person, what more does anyone need?Heck I am there even the play sucks, which I am sure it won’t.

Hugh Jackman’s balls were delivered to him in a bag. If you think I am making this up, the feeling is understandable. But I’m not. Apparently he did a nude gig in his latest movie, Wolverine. Check out more from OK! Magazine.

“Our director gave me a small little bag and inside it where about 8 bits of film, all cut. I said that’s interesting, then I held it up to the light and I said, ‘Ok, now I know why that’s in a bag!’ Now it’s in my safe somewhere. My privates in a bag!”

Hugh Jackman may play a tough mutant superhero on Wolverine — but he’s still not safe from the swine flu virus.

A rep for Twentieth Century Fox confirms to Usmagazine.com the studio is postponing the X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere — set for Wednesday in Mexico City — as the city deals with rapidly spreading swine flu.

The potentially deadly disease — which has killed nearly 150 people so far in Mexico — has slowly started appearing in the U.S. Schools, museums and movie theaters across Mexico City are closed to keep the flu from spreading.

“We were not only concerned about Hugh’s welfare – and we would never send anyone into harm’s way – but we also have an enormous office filled with people we care about,” a studio rep tells Us. “There was no point in proceeding under the current conditions.”

“There is a possibility it could be rescheduled,” the rep tells Us of the premiere. “Hugh is obviously beloved [there] so we’ll see what happens. We’ll monitor the situation.”

Jackman was the only cast member scheduled to attend.

That headline doesn’t sound quite right. I’m not sure rumors can be gay or straight. Notice I’m spelling it Rumor, and not Rumer, because obviously, Rumer is a person and a Rumor is a thought. Rumer is probably gay or straight. I mean she could be bi I guess. Oh, or asexual. Anyway, Hugh Jackman gave an interview to Parade Magazine and he confused the hell out of me when he was asked about the rumors that he is gay.

“I’d be happy to go and deny it, because I’m not [gay]. But, by denying it, I’m saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn’t anything shameful.”

How is it saying that being gay is shameful if you deny you are gay. If I tell someone I’m not gay, how does that answer in any possible way say that you think it is shameful to be gay. It is a yes or no answer.

It is no different than asking are you the color blue? If you say no, is there something shameful about not being the color blue?

I can’t believe he didn’t try and clarify his remarks, because they are very confusing.

He also said the only place anyone cares whether he is gay is here in the US.

“The questions about sexuality I find more here in America than anywhere else, because it’s a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others. It’s not a big issue in Australia.”
