Actress Tara Reid has confirmed she is engaged to businessman boyfriend Michael Axtmann – after the internet entrepreneur proposed during a night out in Los Angeles on Monday.

The American Pie star has been dating Axtmann since early last year, and the couple has been dogged by rumours they are preparing to make their union official.

And now the 34-year-old actress has revealed the reports are true – she’s looking forward to marriage after her lover popped the question during dinner at L.A. restaurant The Little Door.

A representative for Reid confirmed the happy news to People.com, saying, “Michael surprised Tara with a beautiful round brilliant cut ring. Tara was so happy, and the other patrons clapped and yelled out, ‘Congratulations.’”

The website reports the couple is planning a small summer wedding this year.

The heartbroken children of Montel Williams have come forward to complain the TV star has all but abandoned them amid a bitter custody battle.

Williams, who styles himself as an inspirational guru, is locked in a 10-year fight with his ex-wife over son Montel, 16, and daughter Wyntergrace, 14.

The Connecticut teens say the talk-show host has turned his back on them – paying $18,700 a month in child support while depriving them of the emotional support they crave.

“My dad is now like a stranger,” Wyntergrace, who turns 15 this week, told the Daily News.

“Everyone knows him as a great guy, but he’s not making the best choices as a parent.”

Williams, 53, is a former military man who won Emmys hosting his daytime show, which heavily promoted the importance of family and social responsibility.

These days, he hosts a radio show, writes change-your-life memoirs and hawks a series of products under the name “Living Well.”

Meanwhile, his children say his public persona doesn’t jibe with their personal pain – and they are asking that Williams either take an active role in their lives or let their mom make all the decisions.

“I wouldn’t say I really have a relationship with my dad,” the younger Montel said. “He’s not in my life right now. It’s his choice.

“I eat every night. I’m comfortable, but I can’t say I have him as a father,” he added. “There’s all this fighting over things that shouldn’t be a fight, like paying for my PSAT.”

Wyntergrace has seen him four times in five years and their last meeting – a therapy session in September – was a disaster.

“He walked in already mad. He said he thought we were going to dinner, but my e-mail clearly said we were going to see my therapist,” she said.

“It was intimidating. I was thinking, ‘Why should I talk if I’m just going to get yelled at?’”

Williams and Grace Morley divorced in 2000, a year after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The exes have joint custody, with the kids living full-time with their mom.

Morley is pushing for full custody, while Williams is trying to hold on to decision-making power.

In a statement, he declined to answer questions.

“I love my children very much. I do not believe parenting is best done in a public forum and I will not comment on ongoing legal action involving my minor children,” he said.

The children were interviewed in the presence of life coach Lisa Nkonoki, whom Morley hired in 2008 to help them deal with their estrangement.

Rapper Snoop Dogg discovered he’s not as black as he thinks he is on late night TV on Thursday – an official DNA test proved he’s only 71 per cent sub-Saharan African.

The hitmaker agreed to swab his saliva prior to his appearance on chat show Lopez Tonight and was shocked with the genealogy results that came back.

He’s six per cent European and 23 per cent Native American – but he has no Asian in him.

Stunned he wasn’t more than 80 per cent African, he quipped, “We got to have a re-vote. This ain’t right.”

Sean Combs is determined to throw the party of the year for his son’s 16th birthday – he’s invited Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown and Lil’ Kim to ensure it’s a star-studded bash.

The rapper’s eldest son Justin will be celebrating with the stars at Saturday’s event, which will be held in a New York City nightclub.

The party will be filmed for MTV reality series My Super Sweet 16, about teenagers’ over-the-top birthday celebrations.

Combs’ glittering guest list for the ‘Prince of New York’-themed party is also said to include boxer Floyd Mayweather as well as Jay-Z and Beyonce.

But the birthday boy won’t be getting any presents on his special day – his rapper dad has asked guests to give donations to the relief effort in earthquake-devastated Haiti.

A source tells the New York Post, “The club will be decorated with images from the New York skyline. Diddy will perform with his band, Diddy-Dirty Money, but there will also be some big-name performers taking the stage to surprise Justin. It’s going to be big, but it won’t be as lavish as Diddy’s 40th (in November 2009). Instead of gifts, guests will be asked to make a donation to the Haiti fund.”

And according to US reports, they were being so overt with their canoodling that producers for the event were laughing about the couple’s smooching on their walkie-talkies.
