The Fox network says Kara DioGuardi will be back for her second round as a judge on “American Idol.”

The Grammy-nominated songwriter joined original panelists Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul last season.

Her arrival raised questions about the future of Abdul on the hit talent competition. Abdul is still negotiating for next year.

“American Idol” starts its ninth season in January.

Paris Hilton is out of this world.

The Hollywood heiress is slated to be a guest on episode five of CW’s thriller series, “Supernatural,” reports E! Online. And though sources confirmed the blonde bombshell’s appearance, they’re being tight-lipped about the role she’s playing.

A source close to the production simply said, “The fans should trust [show runner] Eric Kripke.”

The series follows two dashing demon hunters, the Winchester brothers, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who are on a quest to find the monster that killed their mother, and end up battling plenty of unearthly threats along the way.

Fan blogs and gossip sites are already speculating about Hilton’s guest appearance on the series: Will she play a love interest to the brothers? Or don some sci-fi attire and transform into a demon? Either way, we’re sure Hilton will think it’s hot.

“Supernatural” season five premieres on September 10 at 9 p.m. on the CW.

In this week’s issue of PARADE, Brad Pitt talks about his decision to become a father, why he won’t marry Angelina Jolie and the risks he’ll take for love. Check out the excerpts below, then visit Parade.com on Friday (Aug. 7) for the full interview.

Why he won’t marry Angelina Jolie.
“I have love in my life, a soul mate–absolutely. When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else.’ I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it–hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment.”

The right to love.
“Man, I resent people telling others how to live! It drives me mental! Just the other night, I heard this TV reverend say that Angie and I were setting a bad example because we were living out of wedlock, and people should not be duped by us! It made me laugh. What damn right does anyone have to tell someone else how to live if they’re not hurting anyone? How many times do you think real love comes to someone in a lifetime? If you’re lucky, maybe two or three.”

His early days in Hollywood.
“I liked to smoke a bit of grass at the time, and I became very sheltered. Then I got bored. I was turning into a damn doughnut, really. So I moved as far away from that as I could. I was done. In Missouri, where I come from, we don’t talk about what we do–we just do it. If we talk about it, it’s seen as bragging.”

Last week he showed off a sizeable paunch as he hauled himself aboard a boat during his French Riviera holiday.

But Jack Nicholson wasn’t going to let a few extra inches around the middle spoil his fun at a party on Sunday.

The 72-year-old took to the dance floor with a supple companion in Saint Jean Cap- Ferrat. However, the triple Oscar winner is unlikely to win awards for his efforts.

An onlooker said: ‘Jack’s moves were rather limited. He was giving it his all, but when he started doing the Twist everyone wondered if he was going to be able to straighten up again.’

“Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester has finally spoken out about a sex tape that surfaced two months ago and supposedly shows her in compromising positions.

Bottom line — it’s as phony as Georgina Sparks. “[The tape] is not real,” Meester says in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, out Aug. 18.

The frisky footage supposedly shows a pre-”Gossip Girl” Meester dallying with an ex-boyfriend, a guy who allegedly tried to hawk the tape to the highest bidder.

“It makes me sort of sad,” says the 23-year-old actress. “It’s unfortunate that it got carried as far as it did.”

She chalks it up to the dark side of fame and starring on a hit show, and notes, “I don’t want most of what comes along with all of this.”

Meester says she’s been forced to wise up in response to being gossip fodder.

“I definitely understand the nature of people better now and that the mere allegation of something like that could be headline news,” she says. “People think it’s real because somebody says it is.”

What is real, she insists in the monthly mag is that she’s “never been crazy. I’m a very good girl, to be honest. I don’t do anything to hurt anybody. Honestly, all I ever do is work.”

The game show “Let’s Make a Deal” is coming back to daytime television.

CBS says that an updated version of the show will debut Oct. 5, with Wayne Brady as host. The network says that the premise of audience members trying to win cash and prizes by making “wacky deals” will be intact.

Monty Hall, longtime host of the original “Let’s Make a Deal,” is a consultant on the new show. It will replace “Guiding Light,” the soap opera that’s ending its more than five-decade run Sept. 21.

CBS programming chief Nina Tassler told the Television Critics Association that the change represents a “very tough transition” for the network, and that three game show pilots were scrutinized before “Let’s Make a Deal” won out.

Police on Thursday searched the home of a 53-year-old man jailed on charges he attempted to stalk Miley Cyrus during filming of her new movie on the Georgia coast.

Capt. Steve Morris of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department did not say what investigators were looking for at the Appling home of Mark McLeod, who told police he’s secretly engaged to marry the 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” star. The search warrant was sealed by a judge.

McLeod told a Tybee Island police officer who arrested him in June that he had “thousands of pictures and letters to Miley on his computer,” according to a police report.

McLeod was arrested Tuesday on a charge of attempted stalking, a misdemeanor, after security guards for Walt Disney Pictures reported McLeod had returned to the filming location on Tybee Island asking where he could find Cyrus.

Police say McLeod had been warned to stay away from the island, 12 miles east of Savannah, after he was charged June 22 with disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer for trying to cross a security perimeter at the movie set. McLeod told police he wanted to see Cyrus, claiming she was his fiancee and sent him secret messages through her TV show.

Tybee Island Police Chief Jim Price would not comment on the search of McLeod’s home, 180 miles from where Cyrus is filming the movie “The Last Song.”

McLeod remained jailed in Chatham County on a $55,200 bond. McLeod told a judge Wednesday he did not have an attorney. He has requested a court-appointed lawyer.
