When Mischa Barton was admitted to Cedars Sinai on Wednesday she was placed there under an involuntary psychiatric hold. That hold lasts 72 hours which means she could have been released as early as Saturday afternoon. She wasn’t and so someone there must think she still presents a danger to herself or to others. The rumors and stories that came out over the weekend suggested or implied or speculated that she had gone on a 3 day coke bender and that her friends were actually the ones who called the police and not Mischa herself.
The reasons given for the bender were that she couldn’t find love and that she was running out of money. Well, if you are running out of money I think the last thing you would want to do is spend it all on coke. I know, I know, she is an addict, I’m just saying that what you and I think of as running out of money does not probably have the same definition as her.
Meanwhile production on her new television show has been pushed back from July 22 to the 31st. The show, which is called Beautiful Life is about a bunch of models. Mischa was supposed to play an older, more bitter model who is trying to remain relevant and get work in the face of younger competition. I’m guessing that even with the delayed start that Mischa probably isn’t going to make the first day of shooting. She sounds like she could use at least 30 days, if not longer in rehab and even when she gets out of rehab, if you are a producer of the show, are you going to take a chance on her? I think Mischa just needs to focus on getting better and not try and delude herself into thinking she is ok or healthy enough to start filming a show every day and all the pressure that accompanies it.

Jackie Chan says “Kung Fu Kid” co-star Jaden Smith’s dedication to martial arts puts his own son to shame.
The 11-year-old son of Hollywood stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has been training under Chan’s stunt co-ordinator for his role in the China Film Group-Columbia Pictures remake of the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid,” which kicked off filming in Beijing on July 11.
In a diary entry on his official Web site, Chan said he was deeply impressed by the younger Smith’s progress when he visited Los Angeles last month.
The veteran Hong Kong action star said Jaden Smith learned the Chinese phrases for different kung fu moves, responded to orders in Mandarin, and treated his teacher, Wu Gang, according to traditional Chinese custom.
“When he was thirsty, he gave the traditional hand gesture, putting one fist into the palm of the other, bowed and asked permission to drink some water,” Chan said.
Chan said Smith even learned the drunken fighter routine he made famous in his 1978 film “Drunken Master.”
“He put my son to shame! I provided my son with the best martial artists in the world, and he could not be persuaded to try it. In just two months, Jaden had learned so much. He is truly a talented boy,” he said, adding he felt Smith was ready to perform his own stunts in “Kung Fu Kid.”
Chan’s son, Jaycee, is a singer and actor but has not followed in his father’s footsteps as an action star.
Chan posted several photos with the diary entry showing him with Jaden Smith and his father.
He said he was skeptical at first of Jaden Smith’s work ethic because he was born into a privileged family.
“Training in martial arts is hard work. It takes years to perfect even one punch or kick. Jaden’s father is a famous celebrity, and Jaden probably knows he could get away without having to work very hard. If I couldn’t get my own son to train in martial arts, how could anybody else succeed?” Chan said.
Chan said he suggested to Will Smith that he send his son to China for a few years of kung fu training, predicting “when he returns, his martial arts will be truly incredible.”
Jaden Smith costarred with his father in the 2006 movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” and appeared in the 2008 Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

For a guy who took part in the 1993 robbery and murder of a Staten Island woman, former Madonna flame Chris Paciello seems to have become quite a friend of law enforcement.
Sandy Sachs, who was Paciello’s partner in West Hollywood’s Murano restaurant, is ready to file a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, charging that Paciello vengefully persuaded a cop buddy to have her busted on a phony drunken-driving charge.
Sachs’ lawyer, Gerson Horn, says Paciello set her up after she sued him for allegedly failing to make good on a promised $600,000 investment. Horn tells us that, on April 16, cops received a call from off-duty deputy Sheriff Ralph Garay, who claimed Sachs was drunk at the restaurant and about to drive home. According to Horn, Paciello can be heard on a dispatch tape coaching Garay to tell on-duty cops Sachs should be arrested.
Horn says a deputy who came to the restaurant “saw no evidence that Sandy was drunk.” But, after Paciello’s girlfriend, Erin Naas, also allegedly told police Sachs was drunk, Sachs was confronted at her home by several officers. Horn says they “threw her to the ground, handcuffed and pummeled her. Her body was covered with bruises.”
A forced blood test determined Sachs’ alcohol level was within legal limits. The L.A. district attorney’s office has declined to file charges against her. Horn says Sachs’ suit will accuse police of wrongful arrest, battery and civil rights violations.
Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Parker says, “We found no wrongdoing by our employees. It was a legal arrest.” Paciello’s lawyer, Keith Fink, says, “A friend of Chris’ did the responsible thing by calling in someone who appeared drunk.”

Another gubernatorial sex scandal may be looming. Even as South Carolina’s Mark Sanford waits to see whether his wife, Jenny, forgives his romp in the pampas, a New York call girl could plunge one of America’s most prominent governors into a fresh hell.
In March, we told you about a high-end escort who claimed that former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer had gotten overly aggressive during some kinky role-play (a charge Spitzer’s lawyer called “outrageous and defamatory”).
Now the elegant blond courtesan, whom we’ll continue to call “Annie,” is talking about three “dates” she allegedly had with another state’s chief executive, who we’ll call Gov. X.
Though Annie’s former boss, ex-madam Kristin Davis, corroborates that Gov. X was a client, his spokesman flatly denies that the married politician has ever hired hookers.
Still, it’s hard not to be intrigued by Annie’s detailed story. She contends that, in the spring of 2006, Davis’ agency booked her for an out-of-state date with a man identified as “Michael.”
“He picked me up in an Italian sports car,” says Annie. “He was in his 30s, handsome enough to be an actor, an impeccable dresser. I wouldn’t think he’d have a problem getting girls.
“We went to a restaurant where the governor was dining at another table with two or three other men. Michael said the governor was a client of his. He introduced me to him. I thought it was odd that he’d introduce someone he’d hired, but the governor was very gracious. It was a brief meeting. Later, Michael and I went to an apartment our agency kept. We had sex.
“A couple of days later, Michael booked another appointment. He was supposed to come to the same apartment. I buzzed him in. When I opened the door, it wasn’t Michael. It was the governor. He was smiling. I knew what was happening. I was okay with it.
“He was a very standard client. He didn’t take the full hour. There was no exchange of money. Michael handled the payment.
“I had two more dates with the governor. Never in public. Always for just an hour, around dinner time. He’d arrive at the apartment in a suit. I never had a problem with him, like I did with Spitzer. He was always nice. There wasn’t a lot of conversation. It wasn’t a girlfriend experience, but he was relaxed. He was very appreciative, like I was giving him a sort of affection he wasn’t getting elsewhere. Later I found out he was married. His wife is quite prominent in her own right.” (Annie and Davis say Gov. X is free to say he didn’t pay for sex, since “Michael” took care of the bills.)
P.S. Among Davis’ other alleged clients: Bernie Madoff. An assistant to the jailed Ponzi scammer has already told of his fondess for noontime massages. ABC News has now found the number for Davis’ closed New York Body Miracle, once located near Madoff’s offices, in his leather-bound phone book.
Davis, who writes in August’s Penthouse about servicing the financial industry, also just found Madoff’s unlisted number in her records. “He’d pay about $220 for a body rub,” she’d tell us. “He wasn’t an escort client.”
In other words, unlike his victims, Madoff didn’t lay out a lot of money to get screwed.

When Klum (above) took her kids to the Bleecker Playground in the West Village last week, swarms of paparazzi began snapping away at her — and local parents asked them to leave, according to Time Out New York. But when the paps refused, parents encouraged their kids to start lobbing water balloons at the photographers. A friend of Klum said, “Heidi left after that. It got too dramatic.” We hear Sarah Jessica Parker was at the park earlier.
