Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty Monday to threatening and assaulting his girlfriend, fellow music superstar Rihanna. The 19-year-old R&B singer appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom alongside his lawyer, Mark Geragos. Brown entered his plea, speaking in a soft voice, while his mother sat in the first row, red-eyed.

He was charged in March by Los Angeles County prosecutors with felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats. He was arrested nearly a month earlier after police said he was involved in an early morning altercation with a woman who identified the “Run It!” singer as her attacker.

Court records list Brown’s victim as “Robyn F.” Rihanna’s real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

The 21-year-old “Umbrella” singer was represented by attorney Donald Etra, who said after the hearing that the singer is in “fine spirits” and spending time with her family in Barbados.

Etra also said Rihanna is hoping that a deal can be worked out before a preliminary hearing or trial in the case, but that she will testify if required to.

“She would be pleased if this was over quickly,” Etra said.

Etra said Brown’s plea was “totally expected.”

If convicted, Brown could be sentenced to probation or nearly five years in prison.

Neither side has publicly addressed Brown and Rihanna’s relationship since the incident.

But there has been discernible fallout and backlash since Brown’s arrest.

Neither singer performed at the Grammy Awards hours after the alleged beating, and both were also no-shows for the Kids’ Choice Awards show held March 28.

Sponsors have stopped using Brown, some radio stations have stopped playing his music and some broadcasters have even started playing an anti-Chris Brown song created by the little-known dance group Smoke Jumpers.

Brown left the courthouse with his mother, two bodyguards and an entourage. On his way out, he had to walk through a phalanx of cameras. He was picked up by a car in front of the courthouse.

Geragos offered no comment and quickly left the courthouse with his client.

Lindsay Lohan is finally admitting she and Samantha Ronson broke up, which Usmagazine.com reported earlier today.

“We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself,” the 22-year-old tells E! News.

Ronson changed her relationship status to single on MySpace Monday.

On Sunday, the actress told Us reports she’d split from her DJ girlfriend were “not true” — despite multiple sources confirming the opposite.

“This time, Sam means it,” a source told Us Friday.

Samantha had security block Lohan from entering a party for sister Charlotte Ronson Friday night.

Afterwards, Lohan wrote to Samantha on Twitter: “So-you win, you broke my heart. now go away. i loved you”

On Saturday, Ronson had the locks changed on her Hollywood Hills home, where Lohan had been living for the past six months.

The couple dated on and off since May 2008.

Serena Williams is an all-action woman both on and off the court. And it seems that her second favourite place is the beach, as she’s often seen frolicking in the Miami sea.

But the super-athletic sports woman appears to have a problem finding a bikini which adequately covers her impressive gluteus maximus (that’s bottom to you).

The tennis champ relaxed with sister Venus and friends after losing in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Serena enjoyed a turn on a jet-ski, and a spot of sunbathing after losing to Victoria Azarenka in a straight sets victory.

And she looked in fine form as she emerged from the sea Bond girl-style, but her brown bikini failed to provide much coverage from the sun’s harsh rays.

Although, one doubts she would draw many complaints.

In her post-match conference, the world No 1 and defending champion in Florida said she was hindered by an ankle strain ‘in addition to something else on my thigh’, which apparently made it tricky moving to the left, and also moving to the right, forwards or backwards.

Serena retained her No. 1 world ranking last week after defeating older sister Venus 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Florida.

It was their 20th sibling showdown, and each has won 10 times.

But clearly there’s no hard feelings as the pair teamed up for a day at the beach.

The tennis player has also been voted the 2008 WTA Tour Player of the Year for the second time - an award voted for by her peers.

‘Winning the Player of the Year award for the second time in my career is a great personal achievement,’ she said.

‘Last year was a very special year on the Tour for me, winning an Olympic Gold medal with Venus, the U.S. Open title and becoming the World No 1 player again.

‘I feel great about my game and hope to win many more Player of the Year titles in the years to come.’

Serena has won every major title during her career.
Last year, she won the U.S. Open crown, reached the title match at Wimbledon and won three other championships.

Authorities said that the four vicitims were all students of Da Silva at the time of the assaults. “The victims allege that he lured them to his homes in North Hollywood and Van Nuys,” the police said in a statement. “He then used a ruse to get them into his bedroom, where he raped them.”

He is currently being held for on $3.8 million bail and police are asking for other alleged assault victims to contact them. That is crazy and sick if it is true. And if it is true, they should lock him up and throw away the key.
