John Travolta said Saturday he and his wife Kelly Preston are “heartbroken” over the death of their chronically ill 16-year-old son, who collapsed at the family’s vacation home on Grand Bahama.
Police Superintendent Basil Rahming has said a caretaker found Jett Travolta unconscious in a bathroom late Friday morning and he was later pronounced dead at a Freeport hospital. The youth was last seen entering the bathroom on Thursday, according to Rahming’s police statement.
“We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives,” Travolta and Preston said in their first public statement since Jett’s death.
“Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered,” said a statement posted Sunday on Travolta’s Web site.
“We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future.”
Preston and Travolta have said that Jett became very sick when he was 2 years old and was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome, an illness that leads to inflamed blood vessels in young children. Preston blamed household cleaners and fertilizers, and said that a detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology helped improve his health, according to People magazine. Others said Jett was prone to seizures.

Michael McDermott, an attorney for the actor, said Sunday that although Jett was last seen Thursday and found the following day, he doesn’t believe that the teen was in the bathroom for a substantial amount of time.
“The police left the impression that the boy was unsupervised. No. There were two nannies with him for the entire evening,” McDermott told The Associated Press. “They made it seem like he was sent to the condo and nobody checked in on him until the next morning.”
“(Jett) was spectacularly supervised,” said McDermott, who said he has not had the chance to talk to the two nannies himself.
McDermott said he had no knowledge of Jett’s medical history but “understood he had a history of seizures.” It is unclear whether Jett was taking medication for that.
The Bahamas’ health minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis, has said that a second, U.S.-certified pathologist will fly in at dawn Monday to assist with the teenager’s autopsy.
“I have spoken to (Travolta) and informed him that the government is doing everything it can,” Minnis said Sunday, adding he could not disclose further specifics about the autopsy.
About a dozen security guards and Bahamian police officers patrolled Sunday around the luxury Old Bahama Bay resort community where Travolta and Preston remained inside their home. The white-sand beach in front of the suites was closed.
The couple also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.
Travolta, 54, is trying to finish funeral arrangements and hopes to fly his son’s body to Florida by midweek, McDermott said. Travolta and Preston, 46, have a house in Ocala, Florida.
The Church of Scientology, established in 1945 by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, has attracted numerous celebrity followers, and among its more famed members is Travolta, who has long been one of Hollywood’s biggest names.

MINI-ME pocket rocket Verne Troyer proved size didn’t matter the night he first bedded blonde Playboy model Genevieve Gallen.
Because the 2ft 8in tall Celeb Big Brother star took the beauty who would become his wife to HEIGHTS of passion she’d never dreamed of.
After he’d hopped on a CHAIR first to reach the bed, of course.
Curvy 5ft 6in stunner Genevieve, 36. reveals: “We had to be creative—but because of my yoga experience I could get into the right positions to make it work. And I was soon head over heels in love with Verne.
“We could have sex up to 10 times in a single day. We’d do it for 45 minutes and he would just keep on going as I had orgasm after orgasm.
“He was a sex addict. He was then only the second man I’d ever slept with. He told me he’d had huge numbers of girls.”
Genevieve—who met the 39-year-old Austin Powers star at a New Years Eve party at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles—says she felt like Alice in Wonderland when she first went back to Verne’s place . . . a SHED at the the end of his manager’s garden. “It was a little off-putting because everything was so small,” says Genevieve.
“There was a miniature futon and a miniature refrigerator and bed. The light switches were all down at the level of my knee and the toilet was no bigger than a child’s potty.”

But she was so smitten by her little lover she was determined to do everything in her power to keep him interested in her.
She recalls: “I would dress up in my sexiest lingerie every day and try all sorts of role-play games. Sometimes I dressed as a prostitute, other times a cheerleader—and even a schoolgirl.
“I once put on a dark wig, some sexy lingerie and put on a Russian accent so he would think I was a high class call girl.
“There was no doubt in my mind he was the man for me.”
Genevieve remembers how they first made love following a romantic dinner at the luxury Four Seasons hotel in Los Angeles in 2002. “I was nervous but determined we would do it that night. I had even researched what condoms to use for a little man,” she says. “That night I put on a long red dress I knew would blow him away. It was our first night out together in public as a couple so I was determined to look my best.
“We had a wonderful meal in the hotel’s restaurant—I had sushi and a couple of glasses of wine to get me in the mood. Verne had a club sandwich and they cut it into tiny little pieces for him, which was kind of embarrassing because they didn’t need to do that.
“After that we went back to the room. Verne had put a little chair by the bed—which was huge—so he could hop on to it.
“And he was really sweet and romantic. We talked and made out for a long time. Verne was not self-conscious about his body at all.
“We made love three times that night. For me it was emotionally satisfying.
“But I was surprised when I saw him naked for the first time that night—I had expected him to be better endowed. But Verne’s body is proportional all over, so he was smaller than I expected.”
She soon found out that he made up for that with his boundless stamina. “With Verne I started experimenting with my own pleasure in ways I had never done before,” says Genevieve.
“We would fall asleep in each other’s arms then wake up, have something to eat or drink and start all over again. Verne was insatiable and there is definitely something in his personality that makes him easily addicted to things.”
The trouble was, that included alcohol.
Gernevieve claims the star would knock back up to a litre of vodka and a 12-pack of Budweiser in a single day. It soon affected their sex life.
“One Valentine’s night, I tried to do something really special for him. I knew he liked the colour red, so I put on everything red, including red stockings, red garter belts, a red thong and patterned red shoes just how he liked them,” says Genevieve.
“He seemed really excited and jumped up on the coffee table as he ordered me into different poses. He took some pictures of me and I was ready for a really beautiful night but before we could make love he was so drunk he passed out wearing his socks and boxers.
“At the end of the day, I think he was more in love with alcohol than he was with me.”
She describes how the warning signs were there early in their relationship.
“Soon after I met him he almost drank himself to death. I heard he was in hospital and when I got there he was lying in bed covered in vomit and diarrhoea,” says Genevieve.
“Then there was a time when I got home and found myself locked out. I tried to wake Verne by banging on the door but he’d drunk so much I couldn’t. The neighbours called the police and I convinced them to break the door open to let me in.
“But then they demanded to see Verne so I could prove it was my house.
“When I found him, he was face down clutching a pillow. I tried to wake him but it was impossible, so I had to pick him up still clutching the pillow and take him outside to present him to the police officers.
“They were shining the light on his head and Verne was mumbling, ‘What’s going on?” One of the police officers started laughing but the other one told him to stop. It was really embarrassing.”
Verne eventually went on the wagon—and he’d been sober nine months when the couple announced their engagement at Genevieve’s parent’s house in Michigan during Christmas 2003.
They wed in a Beverly Hills courthouse on January 22, 2004— and Genevieve even sold all her furniture and replaced it with small items suitable for her husband. She smiles: “It was a beautiful wedding. We said our vows in front of the judge with me sitting on a chair and Verne perched on its armrest.”
But just one month later, the tiny actor hit the bottle again as he began complaining of mounting financial problems. And he wanted out of his short marriage.
He demanded an annulment, claiming he would only land a part on an American reality show if he was still single.
Disgusted, Genevieve refused the annulment but eventually agreed to a divorce. She claims she has been left penniless since the split, as her modelling career dried up.
Now she has a warning for the star’s Celebrity Big Brother housemates.
“Verne is the sweetest, most caring person in the world when he is sober,” she says.
“But if he starts drinking a whole different side comes out. He can be very moody and irritable when he is drinking.
“And he becomes like a dog on heat. He will start hitting on every woman in the house if he is drunk.”

No official comment so far from the hoofers’ respective camps.

Dave Navarro, who became one of alternative rock’s first guitar heroes with such notorious bands as Jane’s Addiction and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, made a celebrity appearance at Primal Nightclub in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. Club co-owner, Greg Hicks had terse words with the uncooperative rock star who tried to avoid taking photos with fans at the club. The star did sign some of the the hard rock style venue’s guitars before jetting over to the new W Hotel Midtown shortly after midnight. The star strangled a bottle of scotch while flirting with dozens of girls in the Hotel’s Whiskey Park Bar which is owned by celebrity club owner, Randy Gerber. Not surprisingly, Navarro left the party with 3 girls, just as he did during his 2007 appearance at another Atlanta nightclub.

In this week’s Page Six Magazine – with his killer saves and the ability to bounce back from frustration, New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is poised to capture one of the NHL’s top honors. And with his dashing sartorial sense and sex appeal, he’s already caught the eyes of the city’s fashionistas.
On doing a shirtless photo shoot if he was offered a David Beckham-esque deal of $5 million:
“I don’t have a problem showing my body, but I have more respect for my girlfriend [fellow Swede, Therese Andersson] than to do that. [But if I was offered $5 million] yeah, then we could start talking. Absolutely.”
On his former teammate and notorious NHL antagonist Sean Avery:
“Sean’s one of a kind. When Page Six Magazine put me on its Top 25 Best Dressed list [September 2008] with the caption “Sean who?” I gave it to my brother [fraternal twin, Joel, a center for the Dallas Stars, Sean’s former team] to put in Sean’s stall in the locker room. Sean didn’t think it was very funny.”
On his fashion sense and Dior, Hugo Boss, and Tiger of Sweden wardrobe:
“[The New York Rangers all] wear a suit every time we travel. So it’s pretty much five days a week in a suit. There’s a lot of space in my closet dedicated to that. And I never wear T-shirts! I don’t want to wear something that’s not me.”
On his game time intensity:
“Winning is everything to me, so when it comes to game day, I don’t like to talk much. I get angry easily. If I have a bad game, people stay away.”
On his plans for 2009:
“I’m always looking to see what’s next. I never get satisfied. Otherwise, you stop getting better. My focus is to go all the way [to the Stanley Cup] this year.”
